Asbury Revival

Vineyard Fam, I want to take a moment to share with you some of the things the Lord has spoken to me that I think apply to us as a family and a movement. The following is not really an exhaustive coverage of everything happening at the revival. If you’re looking for more about what is happening, there is plenty of coverage. Here is an article I like from Christianity Today - Asbury Professor: We’re Witnessing a ‘Surprising Work of God’ | Christianity Today

I have been fortunate to be able to attend the revival several times in the last week and it has been a blessing to my life! Tuesday I was able to attend revival again with James Raney and Tom McDonald. That morning I woke up earlier than normal and sensed the Lord speaking a few things to me. Below is my journal entry that I want to share with you.

”I woke up a little earlier today with an expectation in my heart. I am getting ready to take Jensen to school, then leave to travel back to Asbury with friends. When I woke up this morning, I could hear people asking in my head, ‘Is it still going? Will it last?’

I had this sudden realization that Asbury is not in the church “business” and is not receiving any extra offerings in the services they are hosting. They won’t be starting a building project so they can continue to grow larger and larger. Asbury will continue to reach max capacity.

What I sense is, in order for this to keep going, it HAS to spread! It’s part of God’s divine plan. He visited Asbury and Wilmore, Ky because it couldn’t possibly house the move of the Spirit that is happening long term. Survival of this necessitates movement and expansion.

The only way this keeps moving and expanding is if faithful laid down lovers take it with them to their homes, schools, and churches.

I was reminded of a vision I had at Rick Curry’s church back in 2009. Funnels of water were being poured out from heaven into cities that had dug wells and trenches. When the wells and trenches were filled, they overflowed and caused waves of water to spread all across the ends of the earth.

The last thing that comes to mind… you are not selfish to ask the Lord to impart this revival to you. God’s design is for this glory to be carried out. God’s purpose is for this to spread! You are not working something up. God wants this revival to flow like a river out of Wilmore and to the ends of the earth.

Then a hymn came to mind (which I am not necessarily a hymn kind of guy): Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true. With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.”

That is what I journaled in the early hours on Tuesday morning. Tuesday during the day as I worshipped, I felt the almost unbearable weight of God’s presence wash over me as the worship leader began to sing, “Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary…” Now, I don’t think the song held any special weight of manifest presence of God, but in that moment, I was keenly aware that God saw me as I journaled at 6:00am on Tuesday morning. He heard my prayer and knew my deepest thoughts.

My heart is that this revival would continue to spread and visit every family, church, and school campus in America and the world. I am contending with the Lord to do this in Vineyard and every church in Southern Indiana. To be honest, I was apprehensive to ever verbalize it so as not to come off as someone “capitalizing” on what is happening and trying to work something up. But what I sense from the Lord is actually a responsibility to soak up everything I can from the Revival at Asbury and carry it with to my home, our church family, and Southern Indiana.

May true Revival take place in our homes and spread throughout all of Southern Indiana!
